About PARS

A professional community for parenting assessors—and a clearer source of information for families and legal professionals in British Columbia.

Our story

PARS began as a collaboration among British Columbia psychologists who recognized the value of a professional community for parenting assessors and a clearer way for families and legal professionals to locate practitioners.

The Society has developed as a nonprofit membership organization focused on responsible practice, collegial learning, and public access to information.

Our purpose

Our purpose is to support high-quality, child-focused parenting assessment practice in British Columbia. We work toward this purpose by maintaining a member roster, encouraging continuing professional learning, and providing general public information about parenting assessments.

PARS does not participate in individual assessments or direct the professional opinions of its members.

Who we serve

This website is intended for families, lawyers, courts, assessors, and other professionals seeking general information or access to the roster.

PARS does not act for either side in a family dispute and does not provide private referrals, legal advice, clinical advice, or case consultation to members of the public.

Governance

PARS is governed by a board in accordance with the Society’s bylaws and applicable legal requirements. Board members oversee the Society’s membership, educational, governance, and administrative activities.

For questions about the Board, the Society’s bylaws, or publicly available governance information, contact PARS administration. Board biographies and governance documents will be published only after the Society has approved them for public release.

Our independence

PARS is an independent nonprofit membership society. It is not part of the Government of British Columbia, the court system, a professional regulatory body, Legal Aid BC, or a family justice agency.

Roster membership is not certification, accreditation, or an endorsement of a member’s work.
